The Stuart Collection at the University of California, San Diego seeks to enrich the cultural, intellectual, and scholarly life of the UCSD campus and the San Diego community by building and maintaining a unique collection of site-specific sculpture by leading artists of our time. It has been inventive in both its curatorial point of view and its working process.
Each of these videos describes one of the sculptures, from conception through implementation. While interesting in their own right, and a perfect addition to any study of contemporary art, they form a wonderful self-guided tour of the sculptures that reside on the UCSD campus. They are like having your own private docent as you wander through what must be one of the largest outdoor sculpture gardens in the world!
